Daytona's Motors Keep Running through Aggreko's Power

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla., Feb. 15 -- Aggreko LLC, the world's leading supplier of temporary power and temperature control solutions, will again provide large-scale power generation and temperature control for NASCAR's premiere event, the Daytona 500 on Sunday, February 17th. This year's race marks the 50th anniversary in its illustrious history and the 10th year of the Aggreko / NASCAR relationship.

Aggreko's team of professionals will be responsible for providing power distribution and climate control infrastructure to support festivities, entertainment activities and corporate sponsors for more than 58,000 square feet of space, including the premiere Daytona Club, the Green Flag Club and DuPont Tent among the surrounding venues. This year's race will also feature an exhibit of past winning cars. There will be over 30 cars in total on display -- the largest selection ever assembled.

"This is our 10th year working with the Daytona 500 organizers and we know what it takes to ensure that everything operates effortlessly," said George Long, Aggreko's National Accounts Manager for Aggreko Event Services. "Our experienced team has put together a plan that will keep the Daytona 500 power motors running."

Traditionally a sell out since the inaugural event in 1959, the Daytona 500, nicknamed "The Great American Race," has become more than just the kick-off event to the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. It's a sporting spectacle that is the biggest, richest and most prestigious race in America. Powering an event of this magnitude requires literally tons of Aggreko equipment, including:

o 3.6 MW of power that will produce enough electricity to power 120,000
average homes, appropriate heating and cooling equipment, all internal
distribution and 3 miles of cable, which is enough to stretch all the
way around the outside of the Daytona International Speedway

o A dedicated crew during the preparation of the event to install and
operate the equipment to insure flawless operation on race day

"This is the 50th running of the Daytona 500, so excitement and attention this year is even more heightened," said T.J. Goco, Special Events Manager for Daytona International Speedway. "After 10 years with Aggreko on our team, I am confident this will be the best race yet."

Installation took the Aggreko team 19 days prior to the big race and another six days will be required to dismantle the equipment afterwards.

Aggreko has a long history of providing power to high-profile events, including presidential inaugurations, several national sporting events, the Olympic Games and New York's biannual fashion weeks.
