Davis-Standard Promotes Growing Markets at Chinaplas 2011

(Pawcatuck, Conn.)--Davis-Standard, LLC will focus on several growing markets at the upcoming Chinaplas show, May 17-20 in Guangzhou, China, Hall 5.1, Booth #M11. Davis-Standard has expanded its presence in China over the past few years with new technology for applications in electronics, green technology, engineered films and packaging using biax products or derivatives. Sales engineers will be available to provide information about the company's diverse equipment offering, upgrades for existing equipment and value-added services.

The variety and quantity of Davis-Standard equipment installed in China reflects the company's ability to address a variety of processes. Davis-Standard supplies extruders, in-line coaters and winders for oriented film lines while also manufacturing systems for derivatives of those films, such as complete lines for thermal lamination and UV window films. In the area of electronics, Davis-Standard has engineered systems for protection films, optical PC, PMMA and PET sheet, and MDO technology for battery separator and brightness enhancement films. Work in green and new markets includes technology for EVA encapsulation, solar back sheet, flexible solar cover sheet, biodegradable resins and lithium ion batteries. In addition, Davis-Standard continues to have a strong presence in rubber, foam and medical tubing applications with hundreds of systems installed for these applications.

Davis-Standard has maintained a strong position worldwide despite the economy due to a skilled workforce and an emphasis on equipment efficiencies and quality. At the end of 2010, Davis-Standard's order intake exceeded pre-recessionary levels by a significant margin. Developments within both the converting and extrusion business units have contributed to this success. A few examples include a new cast stretch film winder with the fastest cycle time in the industry, a high efficiency air ring for blown film, a scrapless winder that eliminates the film scrap typical during winder indexing, expanded medical tubing capabilities, direct drive extruder technology for improved energy efficiency, and more efficient heating and cooling systems. Davis-Standard is also in the process of commercializing its high-speed extruder technology, which will improve the return on investment within specific applications.
