Initially introduced in 1981, R:BASE was the first personal computer database based on Dr. Codd's relational model. New features in R:BASE 7.0 include integrated report writer options that allow users to print to virtually any format without third-party software; more than 60 new form controls, including Internet and Animated AVI controls, that enhance functionality without requiring complex programming; and the ability to create complete, customized applications in self-contained binary application files.

Built-in Features Save Hours of Development
More than 60 new native form controls are featured in R:BASE 7.0. Internet controls, Scrolling LED labels, and Animated AVI controls have been added to the Form Designer, alleviating complex, time-consuming programming. The Report Designer also includes built-in Barcode and Crosstab controls for instant translation of users' data.
R:BASE 7.0 includes expanded reporting options that allow output to a wide variety of formats. The built-in HTML Writer allows reports to be instantly viewed in HTML, saving countless hours of programming. The built-in PDF Writer eliminates the need for additional software licensing. R:BASE also outputs to BMP, EMF, GIF, JPG, RTF, TIFF, WMF, and XLS formats.
A variety of import/export formats are supported by R:BASE 7.0 including XML, which is fast becoming the industry standard for data transfer. Data can also be shared with other database programs and with Microsoft Excel. A built-in ODBC driver supports data exchange with any ODBC-compliant database, including Oracle.

R:BASE 7.0 is a robust SQL database engine that allows multiple users to query large amounts of data. The software supports database sizes of up to 2 gigabytes, twice the size of other Windows-based systems. Multiple users can access the same table and row of data simultaneously; the number of concurrent users does not affect performance.
Using native controls, applications can be quickly developed in an integrated environment that includes Form Designer, Report Designer, Label Designer, Graphical Query Designer, and Application Designer. Once created, the built-in GUI Text Editor, Syntax Highlighting, and GUI Tracer/Debugger help eliminate coding errors before they start.
R:BASE 7.0 provides a complete security system that allows the designer to control access down to the smallest detail. User access can be limited and virtual containers can be designed to provide individual users or groups of users access to specific tables, forms, reports, or labels.
