VANCOUVER, B.C. - May 15, 2003 - Epic Data International Inc. (TSX symbol: EKD) today announced the release of the Epic Data MPT9100 advanced shop-floor data-capture and communications terminal. The Epic Data MPT9100, with its outstanding graphical interface capability, leading-edge connectivity and rugged industrial design, defines a new standard for automated data-collection and display terminals.

Epic Data MPT9100 features:
o The Epic Data MPT9100 enables visually driven applications, improving production systems by providing information to the people who need it, in the right format and at the right time. It features a large, integrated 800x600 SVGA color display. The trans-reflective display provides excellent visibility in virtually any lighting conditions. The terminal's built-in touch-screen enables complete support for graphical user interfaces. The terminal also provides a standard SVGA output to large external video display boards to support Visual Factory performance boards.
o Advanced security technologies integrated into the Epic Data MPT9100 meet the level of security and access control required by the most stringent department of defence contract facilities and equipment.
o The Epic Data MPT9100 features complete auto-identification capabilities, including bar-code wands and scanners; an integrated RFID proximity badge reader; an optional magnetic stripe or bar-code badge reader; and digital inputs outputs for interlock access control of facilities and equipment.
o The Epic Data MPT9100 provides hands-free two-way voice communications capability through an integrated microphone and stereo speakers. The terminal's advanced voice-over-IP capability enables audio and video communications over standard Ethernet networks.
o State-of-the-art data-capture and transaction-processing capabilities enable the Epic Data MPT9100 to provide sub-second response time. The terminal's powerful processor and storage capacity allow the terminal to operate "offline" - independent of the network. Built-in Ethernet connectivity provides 10/100-based high-speed network communications. With digital inputs, digital outputs and USB ports, the terminal can become a hub for a host of connected input and output devices.
Among the unique features of the Epic Data MPT9100 is power-over-Ethernet capability. For larger installations, the power-over-Ethernet option reduces total cost of ownership by eliminating the need for electrical conduits, wiring and outlets throughout a facility. In addition to standard Ethernet, the Epic Data MPT9100 offers an 802.11 wireless radio-frequency option.
o The MPT9100 is being manufactured in North America exclusively for Epic Data by an electronics manufacturing services company to stringent design specifications.
