New SiliconDrive USB CF Reduces Host System Design Complexity and Board Space Enabling Faster Time-to-Market

Available in capacities ranging from 1- to 8-gigabytes (GB), the new innovative storage solution combines the performance and compatibility of the USB interface with the proven, rugged and industry-standard CF form factor which has been the preferred choice of embedded system designers for many years. SiliconDrive USB CF is the first product to be introduced based on SiliconSystems' recently announced next-generation technology platform. The new SiliconDrive platform offers enhanced protection from host system voltage and power anomalies to prevent data and drive corruption, a more precise storage system useable-life monitoring system to compensate for lower endurance storage components, and a robust storage management architecture to ensure long product life.

SiliconDrive USB CF is ideal for space-constrained embedded applications, such as single board computers (SBCs), edge routers, wearable computers and medical devices which demand high performance, high reliability storage solutions. SiliconDrive USB CF reduces host system design complexity and board space and susceptibility to electrical noise by requiring only four signals to be routed on the host system motherboard versus the normal 50 signals to support the standard CF interface. SiliconDrive USB CF is offered in an industry-standard Type I CF housing which has been the preferred choice of embedded system designers for many years because of its small form factor, field proven mechanical design and well understood mechanical interconnect technology.
