Data Recorder provides 200 MB/s throughput.

Press Release Summary:

With up to 96 configurable input channels, GEN3i transfers data directly to storage medium at 100 million measured values/second. Users can select from 21 different data acquisition cards. Recorder can be equipped with isolated strain gauge or accelerometer signal conditioners as well as ultra-high speed cards offering sampling rates of 100 MS/s or isolated 1 kV data acquisition card with ±1,000 V direct inputs. Via intuitive touchscreen, users can access all data handling functions.

HBM's New GEN3i Data Recorder Sets New Industry Performance Standard at 200 MB/s Throughput

Marlborough, Massachusetts — HBM, Inc. (www.hbm.com), a leading manufacturer of data acquisition systems, analysis and calibration software, strain gauges, and transducers and sensors, has added to its Genesis High Speed line of data recorders with the new portable GEN3i data recorder intended for laboratory, power test stands and destructive material testing applications as well as for generators, turbines and engines. Unlike other systems that require time-consuming or cumbersome configuration and set-up, the GEN3i is ready to run out of the box.

The GEN3i stands out because it transfers data directly to the storage medium at speeds as high as 200 MB/s (one hundred million measured values per second) — faster than any comparable unit in industry.  For example, say a user employs 18 channels at 2 MS/s, producing 4 MB/s per channel. The 18 channels will produce 72 MB/s continuously until the 480 GB solid state disk (SSD) is loaded, a capability no other recorder can match. “With the GEN3i, you can now measure multiple channels with efficiency and ease at speeds previously unavailable,” says Dirk Eberlein, HBM Genesis High Speed Product and Application Manager.

Users can select from 21 different data acquisition cards. The GEN3i can be equipped with isolated strain gauge or accelerometer signal conditioners as well as ultra-high speed cards offering sampling rates of 100 MS/s or an isolated 1 kV data acquisition card with ± 1000 V direct inputs. The GEN3i features up to 96 fully configurable input channels.

A large, intuitive touchscreen lets users easily access all of their data handling functions. The user interface of the GEN3i won a Nielsen Norman Award 2012 as a “domain-specific solution that allows humans to focus on deeper issues while the software takes care of the mechanics.”
