Onset Computer Corporation Introduces New Data Loggers for Equipment Runtime Monitoring

New HOBO U9 Motor On/Off and State loggers monitor equipment usage, facilitate troubleshooting

BOURNE, MA Apr 21, 2005 Onset Computer Corporation, a leading supplier of battery-powered data loggers, today introduced two new low-cost data loggers for monitoring runtimes of a broad range of equipment, such as HVAC/R systems, pumps, and industrial process tools.

The new HOBO U9 Motor On/Off and HOBO U9 State loggers provide a simple and convenient way to record up to 43,000 equipment on/off cycle or state changes, and use Windows-based software to convert the recorded data into time- and date- stamped graphs. The data can demonstrate how efficiently equipment is running, or help users identify cycling problems. The Motor On/Off logger easily attaches to motor housings without any wiring, which in turn eliminates the need of having to lock out the equipment being monitored. The State logger can be wired to any contact closure or passive relay switch. Both models include a user-replaceable lithium battery, which offers reliable operation for up to one year.

Fast data offload The HOBO U9 loggers offload data to a PC via a convenient, direct-USB interface, which enables high- speed data offload (43,000 measurements in as little as 30 seconds).

Powerful, intuitive software To analyze and plot equipment usage data, Onset offers HOBOware 2.0 for Windows, a powerful graphing and analysis software package. HOBOware provides a user-friendly graphical user interface, and makes it easy for users to determine the total percentage of time equipment was in use, peak hours of operation, runtimes, and on/off cycles. The software also offers a number of convenient features such as zoom tools for close-up viewing of data, and one-click conversion of data for easy upload into spreadsheets and other programs.

Pricing and availability The new HOBO U9 Motor On/Off and State loggers are priced at $70 and $75 respectively, and are currently available from Onset. HOBOware for Windows software, which is sold separately, is priced at $95
