DataPass' Inventory Accuracy and Productivity Efficiencies Help Farnam Manage Growth
MARLTON, N.J. - April 1, 2003 - Acsis, Inc., focused on delivering supply chain solutions for companies using SAP Enterprise Resource Planning software, today announced the introduction of version 4.0 of DataPass, Acsis' leading data collection solution, and its 300th successful implementation of DataPass at Farnam Companies, Inc., a leader in the animal health care products industry.
Providing the foundation for efficient, accurate data collection and effective supply chain execution for SAP systems, DataPass enables manufacturers to reduce the labor and increase the accuracy of information associated with tracking and managing goods at every step along the supply chain, at any time.
"Experiencing a double-digit growth in business that required an expansion of our facilities, SKUs and retailer base, we knew we had to modify our data collection processes to support this expansion," said John Williams, Farnam vice president of manufacturing and distribution. "A strategic part of our long-term growth strategy, Acsis is helping us address the complexities associated with this growth by ensuring inventory and order-picking accuracy even as product volume increases. In addition, as our head count increases, DataPass' ease of use will ensure that new employees are able to quickly master our data collection procedures."
A supplier to horse product markets and major pet and mass-market retailers, including PETsMART, PETCO, Wal-Mart and Target, Farnam became the 300th DataPass installation when the company turned to Acsis to leverage its existing SAP ERP system while transforming its warehouse management and production operations from a manual procedure to an automated wireless data collection and validation system.
Acsis Achieves 300th DataPass Implementation Milestone
Leveraging bar code scanning technology to channel mission-critical information from handheld and vehicle-mounted wireless devices into its SAP system, DataPass enables Farnam to retrieve, validate and input warehouse and production data for improvement in inventory and order-picking accuracy, reduction in data-handling and input errors, identification of inventory problem areas and reduction of data-entry labor. According to Williams, DataPass improved inventory accuracy from 91 to 98 percent, and order-picking errors were reduced by 50 percent.
As DataPass continues to evolve with the requirements of Acsis' client base, Acsis has introduced version 4.0 of DataPass, incorporating the Transaction Generator and Management Console features for increased control and runtime efficiencies. Developed in Microsoft's .Net framework, DataPass' Transaction Generator allows for rapid integration of existing transactions and offers support for multiple screen sizes and native Business Application Programming Interfaces (BAPIs) and Remote Function Calls (RFCs). In addition, the incorporation of the Management Console in version 4.0 enables DataPass functions to run as services and allows for the remote management of multiple DataPass servers from a single location.
DataPass 4.0 will be offered to all new clients and is free of charge for current DataPass licensees with active support contracts.
"Specializing in data collection and optimization solutions in SAP environments, Acsis' 300th installation milestone gives credence to our expertise and proven experience delivering practical data collection solutions, helping our customer base of Fortune 1,000 manufacturers leverage their SAP investment," said Steven Selfridge, Acsis president and chief executive officer. "The launch of version 4.0 continues Acsis' commitment to addressing the SAP user's supply chain challenges by providing the next evolution of solutions for real-time supply chain visibility and decision-making.
