Data Cables save space and installation time.

Press Release Summary:

DataTwist 350 data cables are bundled together using Banana Peel design, which affixes 6 cables to center spline, eliminating need for overall jacket. Each cable exhibits stable electrical performance to 350 MHz and is UL-verified to meet or exceed TIA/EIA Category 5e component standards. Cables come in plenum- and riser-rated versions and feature 24 AWG solid bar copper conductors, rip cords, and flexible jackets that are sequentially marked on one leg at 2 ft intervals.

Belden Introduces Datatwist 350 Banana Peel Cable

Six DataTwist 350 Category 5e cables are now bundled using Belden's patent-pending Banana Peel design.

This design affixes the six cables to a center spline, eliminating the need for an overall jacket.

RICHMOND, IN - Belden Electronics Division, a unit of Belden Inc., and a world leader in the development of cable products for data networking, announces the availability of a new composite cable comprised of six DataTwist 350 Category 5e data cables. These cables are bundled together using a patent-pending design called Banana Peel. The Banana Peel design affixes the six cables to a center spline - eliminating the need for an overall jacket. Installers reap the following benefits:

-Labor and cost-savings are achieved by being able to pull six cables at once.
-Since there's no overall jacket (or outer binder) to strip off, a whole step in the termination process has been eliminated.
-Installers do not have to contend with an outer binder that snags when pulled through the cable pathways and unravels when the individual legs are broken out.
-Without an overall jacket, the bundled cables have a smaller OD (0.600") than traditional overall-jacketed and bundled cables. This offers an improved bend radius for a faster, easier installation.
-A smaller OD means a smaller size conduit.

Each DataTwist 350 cable in this bundled configuration is UL-verified to meet or exceed TIA/EIA Category 5e component standards. And, each cable exhibits stable electrical performance to 350 MHz - more than triple the verified frequency range of the TIA/EIA Category 5e standard.

To provide the benefit of Installable Performance, DataTwist 350 Banana Peel Composite cables have Bonded-Pairs. Belden bonds the pairs by using an innovative design and manufacturing process that affixes the individual, insulated conductors together along their longitudinal axes. According to Rod Sampson, Belden's Marketing Manager for Commercial Markets, "this process ensures that the twisted pairs have uniform conductor-to-conductor spacing and uniform twisting of the conductors into pairs - even when the cables are stressed. If the pairs are not bonded, performance-robbing gaps can form between the conductors - especially during the installation process. Belden Bonded-Pair cables, however, survive the installation process completely in tact, with no gaps between the conductors and no impedance, return loss and noise problems." Belden calls this unique after-installation performance assurance, Installable Performance. Belden DataTwist 350 Banana Peel Composite cables are available in plenum-rated and riser-rated versions with 24 AWG solid bare copper conductors, rip cords and flexible jackets that are sequentially marked on one leg at two-foot intervals. The riser-rated cable, Product #1700S6, features a polyolefin insulation and a PVC jacket. The plenum-rated cable, Product #1701S6, features an FEP Teflon insulation and a Flamarrest jacket.
