"Arkeia Network Backup has enabled LinkStar to offer profitable backup services to our dedicated, virtual and managed hosting customers for several years," said Jonathan Rivers, executive vice president of products and technology at LinkStar, a Washington, D.C.-based hosting division of AdJuggler Inc. "LinkStar's reputation for providing a quality product with unparalleled service will be bolstered with the new flexibility delivered in V8.1 through Custom Restore Objects and extensible reporting."

"Hosting companies deploy Arkeia Network Backup to protect both their own data and their customers'," said Bill Evans, CEO of Arkeia Software. "Now, as hosting companies deliver cloud computing infrastructure, they need new capabilities for backup and recovery. With Version 8.1, Arkeia Network Backup makes it easier for hosting companies to provide profitable backup services to customers on dedicated, managed, and shared hosting platforms."

New Capabilities and Platforms

New in Arkeia Network Backup v8.1 are Custom Restore Objects (CROs) that allow system administrators to assign restoration rights to end users. Administrators reduce their workload by extricating themselves from the data restoration process. Service to the end user is also improved by allowing end users to recover data at any time.

The new software also increases visibility into backup status with both pre-configured reports and powerful tools for custom report generation. Reports can be viewed via the web graphical user interface or delivered via e-mail, command line, or export-to-file. The reporting infrastructure allows reports to be easily integrated into customer dashboards.

New with Version 8.1 is support for AIX 6, Fedora 11, NetBSD 5.0, OpenBSD 4.5, Mac OS X Snow Leopard, and Microsoft Windows 7. Arkeia Network Backup protects data on more than 150 platforms, including virtually all Linux and Windows platforms, as well as AIX, BSD, HP-UX, Irix, Macintosh, Netware, Solaris, and VMware.
