Marposs Introduces New Generation of Data Acquisition Systems at IMTS-2010

Auburn Hills, MI - Marposs Corp. will introduce its new Gage Pod(TM) modular and distributed data acquisition system in booth # E-5521 at IMTS, Sept. 13-18, 2010, in Chicago.

The Gage Pod system can be used for a wide range of applications, from simple manual gauging to fully automatic measurement and inspection systems. It connects to any Marposs E9066 industrial computer or commercial PC running Marposs Quick SPC statistical and quality control software. This fully modular system, based on ARM9 RISC technology, features a huge variety of modules, which snap together without interconnecting cables, and can be easily combined and tailored to any application. The Gage Pod connects to the computer via a single USB or Ethernet cable or wirelessly through either Bluetooth® or Wi-Fi connection.

The 16-channel Gage Pod sensor module that feature a powerful 24-bit A/D converter, system provides high speed data acquisition and sampling, and the user can mix or match LVDT and HBT measurement devices in groups of four. All modules are synchronized for even the most demanding dynamic measurements including linear and rotary encoder signals. Several other Gage Pod modules are available, including 16 I/O (half size) and 32 I/O (digital I/O, 24vDC opto-insulated) modules, Field-bus (PROFIBUS, PROFINET) modules, linear/rotary encoder module, motor driver module and dedicated modules.
Data signals, data synchronization and 24vDC power supply are channeled through an internal Ethernet connection for maximum efficiency.

A convenient characteristic is present on the I/O modules, where the input and output are in parallel between the available connectors, so that a microswitch and PLC and/or a cycle box may be connected to the unit without having to use two separate cables.
The Gage Pod is designed to IP54 standards and is suitable for even the harshest applications on the shop floor. The system can be mounted on a bench. It also incorporates DIN-rail mounting for industrial cabinets or custom-made solutions.
