Original Press Release:

CAS DataLoggers and Delphin Introduce New Vibration Measurement System

New Expert Vibro Data Logger is the Ideal Solution

CHESTERLAND OH—Vibration signals deliver information on the condition of bearings, shafts and machinery and have a major effect on quality and reliability. Therefore they need to be continuously acquired, intelligently evaluated and condensed into meaningful data for effective monitoring. Additionally, in critical situations, machinery needs to be shut down within milliseconds to avoid damage or scrap. Today, CAS DataLoggers and Delphin Technology proudly introduce a new milestone in vibration measurement technology: the Expert Vibro Data Acquisition and Control System. Compact, intelligent and fast, the Expert Vibro provides users with analysis and monitoring functions, intelligent signal processing, local data storage capability and versatile fieldbus connections – all in a single device.

This user-friendly DAQ system successfully combines the processing of complex vibration analysis functions with high levels of flexibility. The highly compact device is equipped with a high-performance, dual core FPGA processor based on ARM technology to provide it with enormous reserves of power for online computations and analysis. While other vibration monitoring systems usually require multiple pieces of equipment, Expert Vibro systems enable vibration data to undergo simultaneous monitoring, recording and analysis, allowing these systems to be used even where vibration measurement systems had previously been considered cost-ineffective.

This modular signal processing system offers users a range of preprocessing functions. Users can select signal filters such as high, low, or bandpass with rectifiers, integrators, differentiators or decimators to configure a preprocessing sequence. Multiple sequences are able to run in parallel in order to evaluate an input signal for maximum versatility. The touchscreen display shows users important configuration and measurement data onsite.

Expert Vibro data loggers measure, monitor and record fully independently. Non-periodic signals (for ex. fault diagnostics) can be precisely analyzed with the Expert Vibro. Using its continuous sampling mode, even the smallest of irregularities are recorded. The Expert Vibro system is equipped with its own internal data storage capability (32 GB/1 billion point data logger memory), making it especially reliable and secure. The system also performs fast limit value monitoring of time signals.

Universal Inputs and Outputs

Using the latest processor technology, the compact Expert Vibro is equipped with 16 synchronous analog inputs with high sampling rates of up to 50kHz per channel. The system also features 4 analog outputs and 8 digital outputs for monitoring. A 24-Bit A/D converter ensures high-precision measurement. All channels are galvanically isolated to prevent transverse distortions. Via the ProfiSignal software, users are able to switch the analog inputs between voltage, IEPE and shaft vibration measurement.

Integrated comparators for Keyphasor® sensors and 4 digital inputs are also included to enable flexible triggering. Monitoring Functions Included Measurement data is monitored on the fly with digital outputs allowing the ability to switch within milliseconds in the event of limit value violations. Characteristic values or raw time signals from any of the analog inputs can be output to 2 analog outputs to interface with other equipment.

Modular Analysis Functions

The system memory can record raw time signals as well as spectra and characteristic values. Optional integrated Wi-Fi, GSM, UMTS or LTE modules are available for standalone operation. Additional features include pluggable screw terminals and a DIN rail-mounting. System installation and familiarization are quickly accomplished so that users can quickly start processing their data to save costs and avoid troublesome interface problems.

Vibration Applications

The Expert Vibro can be used in a multitude of applications for vibration technology including: Monitoring shaft vibrations on turbines, super-chargers, engines and compressors; Monitoring and analysis of bearing vibration and wear; Data acquisition and analysis of pressure vibrations and other transient signals; Continuous operation in industrial plants and test stands; and Remote monitoring of plants and machinery.

Interfaces for PLC and PC

Expert Vibro dataloggers can be connected to PCs via LAN or USB. Two PROFIBUS interfaces are available as well as Modbus TCP for fieldbus connections. Multiple Expert Vibro devices can be synchronized to process vibration data from many channels.

Measurement and Analysis Software

The Expert Vibro is fully compatible with Delphin ProfiSignal software and can be used in conjunction with the "Vibro" option enabling record-keeping and statistic functions. ProfiSignal is a complete software system for data acquisition, analysis, visualization and automation. The software is very user-friendly and combines professional functionality with easy operation. ProfiSignal is modular, scalable and available in 3 versions: Go, Basic and Klicks. Each version has backward compatibility for operability, data files and application projects.
