Route1 Positions MobiKEY for Growth with Additional Services

TORONTO, and HANNOVER, Germany, March 15 -- CeBIT 2007 (Booth #A20n) Route1 Inc. (TSX-V:ROI), the trusted provider of security and identity management network solutions, today announced the launch of Route1 TruOFFICE(TM), the first in a series of services powered by MobiNET(TM). Additional secure services will include web-based applications, VoIP, Digital Rights Management, and custom third-party applications.

MobiKEY, with TruOFFICE, represents the first step in Route1's strategy to unbundle the hardware and services it delivers. While MobiKEY has historically been associated with remote access, it is now just one of multiple form-factors to which Route1 will deliver a variety of services - all powered by MobiNET.

"As a combined hardware/software product, MobiKEY has proven itself to be an extremely compelling and cost effective solution for secure remote computing," noted Andrew White, President and CEO of Route1. "By unbundling MobiKEY's hardware and software components, we are now in a position to enable greater service customization for individual users, pursue more diversified licensing opportunities and accelerate our penetration of the rapidly growing market for secure remote computing solutions. The move to unbundle hardware and services redefines Route1's revenue stream as being in line with other companies in the technology sector, and positions Route1 to introduce additional services," continued White.

TruOFFICE allows users to securely access their desktop applications and network resources from any location in the world - without information ever leaving the boundaries of the corporate firewall. Unlike VPNs, a user's connection is initiated from inside the corporate firewall and extended to the device from which the service is accessed (e.g. MobiKEY). This inside out approach eliminates the possibility of unauthorized access through corporate firewalls. In addition, since no applications or data reside on the remote device and computer, organizations can also ensure compliance with privacy, security and governance regulations. Subscribers to Route1 services take advantage of a managed public key infrastructure (PKI) and the latest in identity and entitlement management.

"Escalating demand for stringent network security combined with an increasingly mobile workforce has placed a huge burden on companies," said White. "While organizations need to embrace the highest security standards in identity management and entitlement-based access to resources, few can maintain the infrastructure that goes with that. Route1 has built one of the most advanced identity management networks, and is now leveling the playing field by delivering highly secure services, such as TruOFFICE, using an on-demand model to lower costs and eliminate associated complexity."

"Remote access is integral to an operation like ours, as well as our customers', where users are constantly on the move but need to maintain access to their desktop applications," said Bill Barthlow, COO, North Pittsburgh Telephone Company. "Route1's identity management as a service model offers the ideal combination of security and flexibility. With TruOFFICE, we know our remote workers can safely, securely, and easily access corporate resources without putting data at risk at any time. Also, it allows us to centrally manage access and entitlement - all without having to make substantial infrastructure investments."

Through a combination of hardware, software and a managed service, TruOFFICE allows users to securely access their desktop applications and network resources from any location in the world - without information ever leaving the boundaries of the corporate firewall.

"MobiKEY with TruOFFICE provides an affordable, efficient, and simple way for the mobile workforce to achieve an in-office working experience without compromising corporate networks," White continued. "With TruOFFICE, we have only just begun to demonstrate the power and flexibility of MobiNET. As a highly secure platform for identity and entitlement management, MobiNET opens the doors to a wide range of opportunities."

Route1 MobiKEY is sold through an extensive network of highly specialized global channel partners. MobiKEY includes a cryptographic smart card plus 30 days FREE access to TruOFFICE. Government, not-for-profit, and volume pricing is available. Subscription to TruOFFICE includes registration for up to 5 host computers.
