Dart Drop Impact Tester can be configured to meet ASTM D1709.

Press Release Summary:

Following free-falling dart method, Dart Drop Impact Tester measures impact resistance of plastic film, coated paper, and other sheeted materials. To ensure safety, unit features pneumatic sample clamp requiring dual switch activation to initiate test. Dual clamping sequence system uses low-pressure to safely secure sample and then high pressure prior to testing that initiates automatic dart release. Tester can be configured to meet ASTM D1709 - Method A and Method B along with ISO 7765-1.

Original Press Release:

New Dart Drop Impact Tester from Thwing-Albert to meet ASTM D1709

West Berlin, NJ – Thwing-Albert has released a dart drop impact tester to the market.  This testing instrument will be used to measure the impact resistance of plastic film, coated paper and other sheeted materials.

The goal in designing this instrument was, as always, customer driven to add an easy-to-use, ergonomically designed instrument that follows the free-falling dart method to measure physical properties of a variety of materials upon impact.  Thwing-Albert wanted to ensure safety when using this dart drop tester so a pneumatic sample clamp requiring dual switch activation to initiate the test was implemented.  This dual clamping sequence system uses low-pressure to safely secure the sample and then high-pressure prior to testing that initiates an automatic dart release.

This new addition to the Thwing-Albert line joins the Spencer Impact attachment for the Elmendorf Tear Tester as a new method to measure impact of plastic film, sheet and laminated materials.  The dart drop impact tester can be configured to meet ASTM D1709 - Method A and Method B along with ISO 7765-1.  As outlined in these standard methods, weight is added in standard increments to the dart after each test based on the results of the previous results.
