Darlington Transistors target audio amplifiers.

Press Release Summary:

Housed in TO-3P package, Models STD03N and STD03P provide built-in thermal compensation diode on same die, which eliminates any delay for thermal compensation operation and any delay between thermal sensing at heat source and response at compensation area. Through decreased thermal resistance, units can achieve high power levels and withstand high voltages.

Allegro® Microsystems, Inc. Announces New Darlington Transistors

Ideal Series of Power Transistors with Enhanced Thermal Stability

Worcester, MA, January 25, 2007 - Allegro® MicroSystems, Inc. announces a new series of Darlington transistors designed exclusively for audio amplifiers. With high SOA and low thermal resistance derived from the new thinner-die technology, Allegro's STD series achieves high power performance in a common small package, the TO-3P. This new series of parts is targeted at the home and professional audio amplifier markets.
Allegro's STD03N/P transistors provide a built-in thermal compensation diode on the same die, which eliminates any delay for thermal compensation operation and any delay between thermal sensing at the heat source and response at the compensation area. In addition, these devices achieve higher power levels through decreased thermal resistance, and can withstand higher voltages than similar devices on the market.

Overall, these transistors are ideal for applications where enhanced thermal stability is required.

Allegro's new transistors (STD03N and STD03P) are priced at $1.90 in quantities of 1,000 and have a 10-12 week lead-time to market.
