New 16-Bit Data Acquisition Devices Help NI Redefine Instrumentation

Long-Standing Technical Expertise Delivers Sophisticated Analog Measurement Hardware

AUSTIN, Texas - Aug. 14, 2002 - With today's launch of the NI PCI-6013 and PCI-6014 devices, National Instruments introduces its lowest priced 16-bit data acquisition (DAQ) products. NI 16-bit DAQ devices far exceed the performance of traditional stand-alone instrumentation products for a variety of computer buses. NI delivers the next generation of measurement devices with its 16-bit multifunction DAQ products, which combine off-the-shelf analog component technology with years of analog design expertise to measure within 0.0127 percent of the actual signal for optimal measurement accuracy.

"As commercially available analog technology components have become more pervasive, we have combined their price and performance advantages with our own analog design expertise to deliver sophisticated analog measurement devices to engineers and scientists," said Yiannis Pavlou, National Instruments DAQ Platform Manager. "With these new devices, engineers can expect higher resolution, higher performance, lower cost instrumentation solutions based on the PC."

By combining custom analog and digital ASIC designs, NI optimizes the accuracy and controls the performnance of commercial off-the-shelf A/D converter chips. As a leader in the market shift to high-density, high-resolution virtual instrumentation, NI offers 16-bit products on multiple computer buses. National Instruments 6013/6014 family of multifunction DAQ devices delivers accurate measurements at a lower price point than is typically associated with lower resolution 12-bit DAQ devices. The company's NI 6036E family delivers low-cost, 16-bit technology and offers a new DAQ device for laptop computers. The NI 6052E family delivers high-performance 16-bit DAQ technology for desktop and PXI computers. NI 16-bit DAQ devices include unique, innovative components for temperature drift protection, noise rejection, self-calibration, and amplification.

Later this year, NI plans to deliver 16-bit technology for sampling and digitizing speeds up to 800 KS/s for multifunction I/O, high-channel count DAQ solutions with more than 25 times better vertical resolution and 20 times better accuracy than traditional stand-alone instrumentation.

NI is a leading provider of 16-bit multifunction DAQ products available across several computer buses including PXI, PCI, FireWire, and PCMCIA. Engineers and scientists use NI multifunction DAQ products in a variety of industries - from testing next generation consumer and automotive electronics to data acquisition and analysis for scientific research.
