Cylindricity Measurement Machine uses automated probe system.

Press Release Summary:

Model MMQ 200 Formtester Cylindricity Machine is available with automated T7W, which is ±360° motorized bidirectional probe that lets operator put part on machine and walk away while entire measurement is done automatically. With EasyForm® v3.0 software, system offers UI that guides users through measurement setup and operation. Measurement results are immediately displayed on screen, including 3D representation with color or grid lines providing an interactive graphic preview.

Original Press Release:

Mahr Federal to Feature New Version of its MMQ 200 Formtester Cylindricity Machine With Automated T7W Probing System at WESTEC 2010

PROVIDENCE, RI -- Mahr Federal will be featuring a new version of its MMQ 200 Formtester Cylindricity Machine with automated T7W probing system at WESTEC, March 23-25, 2010, at the LA Convention Center in Los Angeles, CA. Mahr Federal will occupy booth #2545.

The T7W is a +/-360° motorized by-directional probe intended to reduce operator involvement and improve measurement capability. Complete with Mahr's newest EasyForm® Version 3.0 software, the MMQ 200 is compact, fast, very easy to learn and operate, and is equally at home in the metrology lab or on the shop floor.

"Automated Probe Positioning means an operator can put a part on the machine, walk away, and the whole measurement can be done automatically," said Pat Nugent, Vice President for Metrology Systems at Mahr Federal. "Since manual probe rotation is subject to human error, a secondary benefit of automated probe positioning is greater accuracy of position, and hence, improved accuracy and repeatability for the whole measurement process."

The intuitive user interface of the MMQ 200's EasyForm 3 software guides users through measurement setup and operation. Measurement results are immediately displayed on the screen, including 3D representation with color or grid lines providing an interactive graphic preview. Results can be printed, saved in file formats such as PDF, or exported for analysis in other software packages.

Optimized for the measure of cylindricity through rotational table axis and vertical axis integration, the MMQ 200 can also perform a full range of ISO and/or ASME form checks, including: roundness, straightness, flatness (from a polar trace), parallelism, concentricity, coaxiality, run-out, total run-out, taper, perpendicularity, angularity, and angle sector (roundness, flatness, run-out).

Also on display at the Mahr Federal booth will be surface and contour measurement systems; precision length measurement systems; air gaging; numerous electronic and mechanical gages; and hand-held measurement tools.
