Mazak System Offers Cyberized Production

Schaumburg, IL - Mazak's new Laser CMS (Cyber Manufacturing System) combines the efficiency of automated material retrieval, loading, cutting, and unloading with networked communication to downstream operations and other departments. The system also features such advances as sorting and stacking the finished parts and discarding the skeleton.

Able to schedule and sequence the consistent production of up to four lasers, the CMS helps eliminate variances in production time and expenses, enabling fabricators to more accurately predict costs for fab operations.

The CMS features an integrated CAD/CAM system that separates the design into components, figures bend allowances, and issues dimensioned manufacturing drawings for cutting, bending, welding and assembly. It also determines nesting for highest sheet utilization. The system renests and reschedules immediately, allowing changes to be made even during production.

After cutting, the system removes the parts from the skeleton, sorts the parts, stacks them on pallets, and then discards the skeleton into the waste bin. The networking capabilities of the CMS enable the system to notify downstream operators when parts will be finished and tell them where they can find their
already sorted and stacked parts.

The new CMS is part of a broad line of automated material handling equipment and 1500 to 4000-watt CO2 laser cutting machines designed for the efficient production processing of sheetmetal and plate as well as preformed sheetmetal, pipe and structural. This line is offered by Mazak Nissho Iwai, Schaumburg, Illinois.
