Cutting Lines for Aluminum Coils up to 2,800 mm Strip Width

GEORG finishing lines division offers leading technology

At the end of 2011 GEORG was assigned with the development and delivery of two cut-to-length lines and one slitting line, each with packaging line for the Russian aluminium producer Kamensk-Uralsky Metallurgical Works (KUMZ). Those lines are able to process aluminium coils with a strip width up to 2,800 mm. This important investment of KUMZ is
focusing the increased export demands and the enhanced technology requirements of the
aviation and transport industry.

The project realisation of the lines, which will belong to the broadest cutting lines worldwide, is in full swing at the moment. The start of production is planned in beginning of 2014.

"The scope of supply is completely handled by GEORG and includes besides the mechanical
part also the electrical control and automation. All components will be manufactured in
our German workshop" (Antonio Garcia, managing director finishing lines division - member of the board)

Impressive technology for coils up to a total weight of 25 tons

Each line, the two cut-to-length lines and the slitting line, are served with coils by the high bay warehouse system and are designed to produce coils with a total weight up to 25 tons.

The cut-to-length lines have the capability to cut material thicknesses of 0.20 - 3.00 mm and 3.00 -. 10 mm. They are equipped with hydraulic expandable double decoilers and with rotating cut-to-length shears. Moreover both lines have edge trimming shears with automatic cutting and strip width adjustment. Additionally the approved GEORG levelling machines in cassette change design and the electrostatically oiling machines are applied to produce high quality plates. To protect the finished stacking bundles, they can finally be wrapped in the semi automatic packaging line.

The thickness range of the slitting line is 0.20 - 5.00 mm and is covered by two slitting shears with a shear exchange unit and a tool changing device. The additional packaging line has a stacking device for commissioning of the produced baby coils, an automatic strapping device and a foil stretching machine to wrap the stacked coil packages. With this project GEORG finishing division expands its strategic market segment of aluminium.

Simultaneously company GEORG advances the further development of the successful
installed technologies in the aluminium industry for extra wide strip width.
