Flow International Corporation Introduces PASER ECL Plus Cutting Head

Enhanced cutting head increases precision of waterjet stream to improve component life and cut speed

Kent, WA - July 3, 2002 - Flow International Corporation (NASDAQ:
FLOW), the leading developer and manufacturer of ultrahigh-pressure (UHP) waterjet technology, has introduced an enhanced PASER abrasive waterjet cutting head that cuts with greater precision and speed and extends component life.

The patented pending PASER ECL Plus features the newly designed
DuraFlow orifice that improves the precision of the waterjet stream as it moves through the cutting head. As a result, more cutting power is directed at the work piece and less is deflected onto the cutting head components so that cutting is faster, more efficient, and parts last longer. And, as with all Flow technology, the PASER ECL Plus is compatible with any Flow waterjet machine, meaning it will fit retroactively on any Flow machine no matter how old the machine.

Additional benefits include:

- REDUCED OPERATING COSTS. High quality, long-life parts, combined with precision design and alignment, ensures that component life is dramatically increased.

- INCREASED PRODUCTIVITY. Longer-life parts mean longer cutting operations between part changes.

- INCREASED SPEED. A perfectly aligned, coherent stream means that all the cutting power is directed at the work piece.

Flow customers are realizing significant benefits from PASER ECL Plus including extended part life, faster cutting speeds, higher quality parts, and an improved bottom line.

"We have experienced phenomenal results," said Jack Budd of Precision Waterjet. "The DuraFlow orifice has been running 800 hours, with numerous on-off cycles, and it shows no wear whatsoever. Our mixing tube life has nearly doubled and the extended part life is significantly lowering our operating costs and increasing our up-time."

"We cut very fine, precise parts, and have been able to increase our cut speed by 8% while maintaining the edge quality we require," said Dr. Jonathan Tyler of Tyler Research Corporation. "We reduced the initial kerf by over 10%, and are realizing longer up-time and reduced material waste, which are improving our bottom line."
