New Pitney Bowes 72K Cutter Increases Mailstream Productivity Input by 44 Percent

Mail Operators to See the Only Flexible High-Speed Cutter on the Market at Graph Expo

STAMFORD, Conn., Oct. 16 / - Today, Pitney Bowes announced that it has increased productivity input for mail operations by 44 percent with the debut of the most flexible high-productivity cutter on the market, the HPI-72C. At 72,000 cut sheets per hour, the cutter performs two-up continuous roll-fed or fan-folded applications.

Pitney Bowes will demonstrate the new HPI-72C input integrated with leading-edge mail and document solutions at Graph Expo® and Converting Expo®, America's number one printing and graphics communications event, held in Chicago, IL, October 15-18, 2006. Pitney Bowes is located at Booth 2063.

The 72K cutter has servo-powered technology and can be integrated with Pitney Bowes APS(TM) Advanced Productivity Series and FPS(TM) Flexible Productivity Series inserting systems. With its speed and flexibility, this latest innovation is significant for mail operations with high page count applications, such as telcos and utilities, insurance and financial firms, because they can expect a significant increase in the production of their input.

"We've removed a major speed bump that slows mail production. Now a 3 to 4-page job flies through like a 2-page job," said Clint Dally, Vice President, Product Line Management for Pitney Bowes Document Management Technologies. "Clients have asked us for speed, easy set-up, high productivity and - more importantly - consistency. The Pitney Bowes 72K cutter delivers on each of these key performance demands."

The speed behind the HPI-72C is attributed to its accurate fast-motion control which allows the input to process odd-page-count accumulations without throughput degradation. For the first time ever, mail operators are seeing 2-page processing speeds on 3 to 4-page jobs.

In addition to the debut of the HPI-72C, Pitney Bowes will also showcase its comprehensive range of mailstream solutions at the event. The APS(TM) inserter includes the new Twist-No-Twist module that automatically adapts to face up or face down printing ensuring the proper orientation at the collation stage. The APS(TM) inserter also highlights Pitney Bowes Group 1 Software's data quality, business geographics, document composition and postal efficiency solutions. Pitney Bowes Emtex will also highlight their robust output print management solutions, fully integrated with DFWorks(TM) to provide high integrity end-to-end job tracking.

A new solution for the growing direct mail market will also be introduced - the FlowMaster® RS inserter equipped with servo-powered rotary feeders. The FlowMaster® RS inserter will be integrated with the Flexible Bindery Interface processing a folded, one-page personalized direct mail application. In addition, the system will demonstrate integrity scanning, variable, high-definition graphics and text printed on the envelope in real time.
