Stanley-Proto Introduces Custom Tool Kits
A customer-specified tool kit in a self-inventoried storage case makes technicians' jobs easier and protects equipment from foreign object damage.
Conyers, GA, December 13, 2005 -- The new Stanley® Proto® Custom Tool Kitting program (CTK) offers two major benefits: It lets customers assemble the exact set of tools they need for their trade, and puts those tools in a storage system that makes it easy to confirm that each tool is returned to its proper place after use. This helps prevent Foreign Object Damage (FOD), a term that describes the damage caused by a missing, broken or a tool mistakenly left in a piece of machinery after maintenance.
The CTK lets each customer assemble a truly one-of-a-kind set of tools. They can choose from thousands of Stanley Proto and Blackhawk by Proto mechanics tools and Stanley branded trade tools. If they need tools that aren't included in those brands -- whether hand, power, air, or cutting tools -- Proto's sales staff will help get those tools and add them to the kit.
What makes the CTK more than a tool collection is its emphasis on preventing FOD. This is a growing concern in many industries, from the military, to aircraft and fleet maintenance operations, where it can cause expensive mechanical damage, and can even lead to serious injuries.
To protect equipment from FOD, tools can be placed in one of a number of storage systems, including various tool boxes, briefcases and soft-sided pouches that can hold anywhere from 5 to 500 tools. These cases or cabinets include polyurethane foam inserts with cavities precut to the profiles of each individual tool. The inserts let technicians easily find any tool, and immediately spot missing tools after finishing a job. This makes it less likely that a tool will be left behind.
The inserts also help make technicians more productive by keeping tools organized for efficient, easy access.
At the customer's request, Proto can laser etch tools with identifying information such as division, employee, department number. It's just another way of making each tool kit truly unique.
