Original Press Release:

In House Laser Engraving Increases Design Flexibility and Reduces Turn Around Time and Supports RoHS1 and Reach Compliance

Precision Electronic Glass (PEG) recently added laser engraving to the capabilities of its in house graphic design department. The new CO2 laser system offers several advantages over decals and screen printing that are commonly used to adorn glass parts with logos, scales or serial numbers for traceability. The etching process is more accurate and repeatable than screening printing or decals. Images are permanent and won’t wear, peel or rub off. One of the most important advantages is in the area of design. Images and logos can be changed instantly without the need to order decals or silk screen links and wait for and wait for printing and delivery. Turnaround time can be reduced significantly on many jobs. Another great advantage of laser etching is being compliant with RoHS1 and REACH directives because the laser engraving system eliminates the need for decals or silk screening inks which may contain non RoHS 1 and REACHG compliant materials.

PEG has greatly expanded its custom design department. The laser engraving system has been used by PEG to engrave quartz, glass, wood, stainless steel, Kovar, acrylic, plastic, and ceramics. PEG graphic designers can quickly design or redesign logos and images. They will cut fixtures in house for custom engraving jobs. Having both design and machining in house reduces turnaround time on jobs. In addition, PEG will test the practicality of laser engraving on any material submitted to them. Requests for custom work should be submitted to PEG for review.
