Custom Design Lowers Total Installed Solenoid Cost

Much of the cost of a component part of a high volume manufactured assembly may be found in the time required for installation-unless special design measures have been taken. Here is a new example of how Bicron has designed a solenoid specifically for a computer manufacturer's laptop lock assembly. The solenoid body, plunger design, wire connection, and electrical characteristics were specifically designed to meet the manufacturer's unique needs for reliable mechanical power in a small space. All it takes for installation is insertion of two screws into threaded holes in the C-frame body and plugging the connector to the power buss.

The solenoid generic design is a C-frame, magnetic latching type. Magnetic latching enables the solenoid to maintain a "latched" state for an indefinite period without power. Application of an electrical pulse unlatches the solenoid.

This is just one of many different solenoid configurations that Bicron Electronics has been designing and manufacturing for 40+ years. Other types include D-frame, Tubular Push or Pull or Push/Pull, Rotary types, and Proportional, all in a wide range of sizes, from miniature to large units with force ratings greater than 75 oz. [2 Kg]. With these proven credentials, Bicron Electronics is in an excellent position to collaborate with your design team to produce an optimum design for your special project.

Complete specifications and dimensional drawings are given for more than 40 standard types of these configurations on the Bicron Electronics web site, www.bicronusa.com. Any of these can be the starting point for a custom solution to any number of requirements including those found in locks and security systems, fuel management, medical devices, transportation systems and many more.
