Current Transducer operates from single +5 V supply.

Press Release Summary:

Combining ASIC with closed-loop technology, Model LTSP measures positive and negative ac, dc, and pulse currents on printed circuit boards, and offers access to internal voltage reference (2.5 V) on separate external pin. Multi-range configuration is designed for nominal currents of 8, 12, and 25 ARMS with galvanic isolation between primary and output circuits. Offered in 22.2 x 10 x 24 mm package, CE marked unit is UL recognized, and conforms to EN 50178 standard.

LEM Extends Its LTS Range of +5V Current Transducers with Unit Offering Current Output

Key points:

o Closed-loop technology combined with ASIC

o Access to the internal voltage reference

GENEVA, Switzerland and MILWAUKEE, WI (February 5, 2008) − LEM S.A., the world's leading manufacturer of isolated current and voltage measurement components today announced it has added to its LTS range of current transducers designed to operate from a single +5V power supply. The LTSP model measures positive and negative AC, DC and pulse currents on printed circuit boards and provides a current output instead of the voltage output provided by the other units in the family. This allows the LTSP to detect currents up to at least 14 times the nominal current.

The LTSP uses the same ASIC (Application Specific Integrated Circuit) as LEM's LTS and LTSR models. This device, designed by LEM, allows for the same high performance as the Hall-effect closed-loop current transducers in an extremely small package (22.2L x 10W x 24H mm). The LTSP provides better offset drifts than units based on traditional discrete technology, as well as access to the internal reference (2.5V) on a separate external pin for use with microcontrollers and/or A/D converters.

The transducer's multi-range configuration is designed for nominal currents of 8A, 12A and 25ARMS with galvanic isolation between the primary and output circuits. The current output allows users to manage the accuracy level and thermal drift by selecting the output resistance. The ability to choose the output resistor also allows designers to adjust the gain to suit specific applications.

The LTSP transducer is CE marked, UL recognized and conforms to the EN 50178 standard for industrial applications. It also has a five-year warranty, as do all LEM industrial products.
