New CT Surface Mount Current Sense Transformers Have Low Seated Profiles and Wide Operating Temperature Range

ROMOLAND, CA July 30, 2002 The new CT319 and CT320 Surface Mount Current Sense Transformers from Datatronic feature a low-seated profile of 0.160 inches (4.0 mm) and 0.394 inches (10 mm), respectively, above the circuit board and operate over a
temperature range of 55°C to +155°C.
The CT319 Series senses the current output changes to provide feedback for overload detection, emergency shut-down functions and power regulation. It offers turns ratios from 1:20 to 1:200 and performs optimally at frequencies of 100kHz and above. Key electrical parameters include an inductance of 100 to 11000H, a resistance of 0.50 ohms to 27.50 ohms maximum and an isolation voltage of 500 Vrms minimum. Miniature in size and robust by design, the ultra compact CT319 Series measures only 0.157 inches (4.0 mm) wide by 0.310 inches (7.85mm) and stands just 0.157 inches (4.0mm) high. The CT319 Series is manufactured with UL94V0 compliant materials. The CT320 Series primary is rated for 35 amps AC Vrms and offers a full selection of turns ratios from 1:20 to 1:200 and performs optimally at frequencies of 50kHz and above. Key electrical parameters include an inductance of 0.30 to 29H, a resistance of 1.40 ohms to 14.00 ohms maximum and an isolation voltage of 500 Vrms minimum. The compact CT320 Series measures only 0.560 inches (14.22 mm) wide by 0.785 inches (19.91 mm) and stands just 0.394 inches (10.00 mm) high. It is manufactured with UL94V0 compliant materials as well.
The CT319 and CT320 Series transformers are compatible with high-speed automated pick-and-place assembly and high-temperature soldering equipment and they are available in tube as well as tape-and-reel packaging. Custom designed transformers can
be specified to meet unique circuit requirements.
