IRC Offers 2W Current Sense Flat Chip Resistor in 2512 Package

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX (September 12, 2007) - Providing design engineers with a higher power device in a compact, space saving design, TT electronics IRC Advanced Film Division offers a 2W current sense flat chip resistor in a 2512 package. Designated the LR Series, the current sense resistor features a copper conductor element on an alumina substrate with wraparound copper terminations and a protective overcoat for increased stability.

"IRC is one of the only companies in the industry to offer a 2W chip resistor in a 2512 package - most comparable devices are only available up to 1W," said Gary Bleasdell, thick film business unit director for IRC Advanced Film Division. "Because of the higher wattage and minimal footprint, the resistor is ideal for a variety of applications with limited PC board space, including adapters and disk drives."

Additional applications for the LR Series resistor include DC/DC converters, automotive electronics, power supplies and battery chargers.

Also available in 1206 and 2010 sizes, and rated at .5W and 1W respectively, the LR Series chip resistors feature a resistance range from 0.002W to 1W, with tolerances to ±1%, TCR to ±100ppm/°C and a dielectric withstanding voltage of 200V. Operating temperature range is from -55°C to +150°C. The chip resistor is available with standard 60/40 tin/lead plating or lead-free terminations. IRC will also produce devices outside these specifications to meet customer requirements.

Pricing for the LR Series chip resistor is $0.16 each in quantities of 10,000 pieces. Lead time is from stock to 10 weeks.
