Cultec Systems Gain DNREC Approval in Delaware

BROOKFIELD, CT - CULTEC, Inc., a manufacturer of stormwater management chambers and water quality systems, is proud to announce that its Separator(TM) water quality system has gained approval from the Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC).

A letter dated March 15, 2012 from Randell K. Greer, PE, of DNREC states, "DNREC will include the CULTEC Separator(TM) Row system on the list of endorsed products for meeting the 80% TSS reduction requirement under the current Delaware Sediment & Stormwater Regulations. This will also qualify the CULTEC Recharger®/Separator(TM) system to act as a gross pollutant removal practice and as a pre-treatment practice for petroleum hydrocarbons. This will be reflected in the next update to the DNREC Endorsed Products list."

To achieve this designation, CULTEC's Separator(TM) system had to meet the state's current "Sediment & Stormwater Regulations," specifically to achieve an 80% total suspended solid removal rate for a two-inch, 24-hour storm event.

"DNREC is dedicated to protecting the state's local and natural resources, and these regulations help to do just that," said CULTEC Founder & CEO Bob DiTullio, Sr. "The idea is to direct overflow into a local stream or pond following a storm. Instead of discharging dirty water into these bodies, CULTEC's Separator(TM) row will clean the water before it leaves the system."

The DNREC protects and manages Delaware's vital natural resources, protects public health and safety, provides quality outdoor recreation and serves and educates the citizens of the state about the wise use, conservation and enhancement of the state's environment.

About CULTEC

In 1986, CULTEC introduced its Contactor® and Recharger® HDPE septic and stormwater chambers and helped begin a revolution toward the use of plastic construction products. Since then, several product developments and strategic alliances have made CULTEC a cutting-edge R&D-based manufacturer. CULTEC chambers can be used as subsurface retention or detention systems and as replacements for ponds, concrete structures or pipe and stone installations.

CULTEC manufactures nine different chamber sizes ranging from 8.5" - 48" to accommodate almost any site parameter. The chambers' perforated sidewalls and fully open bottoms promote maximum infiltration capability and allow for the transfer of high volumes of water at a low velocity. The units can be installed singularly or in series in single- or multi-layer beds.

In addition, CULTEC developed its own in-line side portal manifold system, which eliminates the need for a conventional pipe header system, and water quality unit for maintaining CULTEC chamber systems. CULTEC products meet H-25 wheel load requirements, have a 10-year warranty and are currently modeled in HydroCAD, Bentley Systems, Inc.'s PondPack®, Autodesk's Autodesk® Storm and Sanitary Analysis, and Streamline Technologies' ICPR.

CULTEC's technical staff offers free design assistance including preliminary calculations and job-specific CAD details. A free CULTEC StormGenie(TM) - AutoCAD® Plug-In for designing CULTEC systems and a free HydroCAD CULTEC custom edition is also available from the company. In addition, CULTEC products can contribute to the U.S. Green Building Council's credits, under the LEED rating system, when the project is designed per LEED requirements.
