CSC Developing IT Data Warehouse for Care Focused Purchasing

Warehouse Will Initially Store Records for More Than 20 Million Lives

EL SEGUNDO, Calif., Sept. 27- Computer Sciences Corporation (NYSE: CSC) announced today that it has signed a three-year, multimillion dollar agreement to develop the Care Focused Purchasing data warehouse for Care Focused Purchasing Inc. (CFP), a collaborative effort of more than 50 employers and seven national and regional health insurance carriers. These organizations are united in the belief that a key part of the solution to America's healthcare crisis lies in higher quality and more efficient medical care. Among the participating employers are The Boeing Company, CSC, Hannaford Bros. Co., Lowe's Corporation, Nextel, Northrop Grumman, Penske Truck Leasing, Smiths Group Americas LLC and Sprint.

Under the terms of this initial agreement, CSC is designing, developing, deploying and hosting the warehouse. This initiative will enable the participating employers and carriers, including Aetna, Fiserv Health, Humana, and Regence BlueShield to capture and access data derived from patient care to measure physician and hospital efficiency and quality. The data, which does not include patient names, personal identification information or financial information, will be aggregated using both commercial and proprietary tools. The warehouse will initially store information on more than 20 million people nationwide.

"The Care Focused Purchasing data warehouse will enable an objective assessment of the quality and efficiency of hospitals and physicians, which will empower purchasers and consumers," said Carl Mankowitz, M.D., a partner in CSC's Global Health Solutions practice. "We look forward to teaming with CFP in this effort, which will fundamentally change and improve healthcare delivery in this country."
