Company Also Wins WorldStar Award for Elegant and Unique Whisky Tin
Philadelphia, PA – CROWN Aerosols and Speciality Packaging Europe, a business unit of Crown Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: CCK) (Crown) (www.crowncork.com), is celebrating a number of successes in the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining (IOM3) Starpack Awards 2014. At the awards ceremony, which took place in London, UK, the leading metal packaging manufacturer’s team was honored with gold, silver and bronze across multiple categories for its work with some of Europe’s most well-known beverage and confectionery brands.
As a result of this collaboration with customers, Crown won gold in the Best Branded Pack – Single Pack category for its striking metal packaging for Bruichladdich Black Art Scotch whisky. Crown worked closely with the distillery to create a distinctive round three-piece tin, the dark and understated design of which reflects the values of the brand and the quality of the product within. The use of delicate embossing and gold imagery and contrasting matte and gloss varnish makes the pack stand out on store shelves and helps boost consumer appeal.
In the same category, Crown also took home silver, for its work on both Fox’s Chocolatey Biscuit Selection, and Bruichladdich Octomore Ochdamh-mòr whisky. In addition, Crown was awarded bronze in the Best Branded Pack – A Range of Packs category for its design for the Inchmurrin single malt whisky collection.
For its Bruichladdich Black Art Scotch whisky container, Crown was also honored with the WorldStar Award in the Beverages category. The renowned awards are presented only to those packages already recognized in a national competition, such as the Starpack Awards. An expert panel of judges compares similar packages around the world and awards the entries attesting packaging innovation and execution excellence. The WorldStar Competition aims to show the progress within the art of packaging and to set the standard of international packaging excellence.
Speaking of the Starpack Awards, Véronique Curulla, Marketing Director at CROWN Aerosols and Speciality Packaging Europe, explained: “Competition across the food and beverage industries is rising, so it is more important than ever for brands to stand out on supermarket shelves. That’s why, as a leading metal packaging manufacturer, we endeavor to support brands looking to differentiate themselves by continually designing and producing striking, eye-catching packaging that enhances sustainability both for the brand and for their customers. At Crown we help our customers attract and keep consumers’ attention; we firmly believe packaging has its role to play as ambassador of a brand’s reputation and heritage.”
Crown works closely with all of its customers, designing and manufacturing stunning, environmentally-friendly metal packaging that stands out on store shelves and strengthen brand identity in the eyes of consumers. With manufacturing facilities throughout Europe, Crown is able to deliver packaging with short lead times for European customers, maintaining a safe and reliable supply chain that protects their business needs. Crown’s design and innovation team supports customers in developing not only new packaging concepts, but also meeting their production standards and requirements. As the metal used in its packaging can be recycled again and again with no loss of performance, Crown is also able to support its customers in enhancing the sustainability of their operations to meet their environmental goals and build credibility.
