Original Press Release:

New Flat Pack Crepe Paper Machine from Elsner

Elsner Engineering Works, Inc. is introducing its new model ACR-500 machine designed to automatically produce retail packages of flat crepe paper at speeds up to 50 finished products per minute or five 10-count piles per minute. Working from a single 39.3 inch (1 m) master roll, the ACR-500 automatically slits, folds and stacks finished products. This machine is the first Elsner to fully automate the process, requires just one operator and replaces several labor intensive manual operations.

Finished product size is approximately 19.6 x 3.5 inch (500 x 90 mm) flattened. Cut length range is electronically adjustable from 4.9 to 8.2 feet (1.5 to 2.5 m). The machine automatically stacks product into piles which are adjustable to a maximum 4.3 inch (110 m) pile height.

A programmable logic controller continuously monitors machine functions to assure final product quality. A touch screen interface allows easy set up of cut length, machine speed and other parameters by the operator. Servo drives eliminate gear trains and provide accuracy in operation. Two servo driven rewind spindles provide a fixed diameter of approximately 2.25 inch (57 mm) which results in the final flattened finished product size. The unit features automatic edge guiding and rotary shear center slitting. A single cantilevered center motor driven unwind stand provides precise tension control and a second stand is available where continuous operation is desired.

The machine is shown with a manually fed polybag assembly unit which then feeds a turntable for packaging. Fully automatic wrapping capabilities complete with labeling are also available.
