Creform Corporation, Greer, SC has developed a new mobile cart design for an off-road construction equipment manufacturer to use in transporting and holding reels of hydraulic hose and also serving as supermarkets in production areas. The cart design allows for a wide variety of reel sizes and colors of hydraulic hoses all presented to assemblers on reels of varying hole IDs. The simplicity of the cart design helps increase assembler’s efficiency.
The carts have an 800 lb capacity because they are designed and built using the Creform unique 42mm pipe and joint system. The 42mm pipe is 2-1/2 times stronger than standard 28mm pipe. For example, the 42mm pipe supports the heavy reels from their centers without the need for extra bracing. Plus, center supported reels spin more freely than if rim supported. This cart simplicity makes for good visual identification, management of inventory and rapid replenishment while serving as hose supermarkets in assembly areas. The open design provides easy access to product and good visual inventory management.
The carts are 36" wide, 63" high and 80" long and have eight adjustable positions for the reels that are easily modified or repositioned by using a few basic hand tools.
Each cart has six 4" swivel casters, four locking, for easy transporting and safe positioning. The carts can also be fitted with a hitch for towing by a manned tugger or unmanned automatic guided vehicle. Creform also offers a wide selection of 42mm pipe colors so carts can be color coded by department or for specific products and fast identification purposes.
The unique Creform 42mm pipe and joint system allows users to design and build pipe & joint structures using fewer components thereby requiring less man hours for assembly…added benefits to creating stronger structures. Creform also offers a variety of 42mm/28mm transition joints, which allow using 28mm pipe for the added access to hundreds of Creform accessories.
The Creform System is used to create an array of material handling and efficiency enhancing devices and is a proven component in continuous improvement and Lean Manufacturing programs. The company partners with customers in developing and implementing these programs.
