CRECO Supplies Complete Tank Package to Major Steel Mill!

When a large Indiana steel mill had to upgrade their water treatment systems to comply with strict regulations, they knew they would need a variety of chemical and process storage tanks. CRECO was asked for help with the tanks on this project. Working with the steel mill and consulting engineer, CRECO provided budgetary estimates, and offered suggestions in selecting the best materials for each application. After 2 years of planning, pricing, and designing, the project construction began in late 2010 and is scheduled to be complete in 2011. Tanks in Carbon Steel, Fiberglass, Polyethylene, and Stainless Steel were all supplied by CRECO, Inc. But the crown jewel of the project was the bolted, coated, carbon steel storage tank supplied and erected by All State Tank/CRECO.

Initially this large tank was to be a field erected, welded and coated design. As costs ballooned, CRECO suggested the bolted tank option, saving the customer significant dollars! Utilizing a proprietary coating and specialized erection equipment, All State built and erected a 750K gallon tank inside an 800K containment tank. With the concrete acting as the floor, the tank was built on an embedded ring from the top down with special jacks, eliminating the need for costly cranes.

Also, building the tank while working at ground level made for a safer project and eliminated the need for man lifts and expensive safety equipment.

The bolted steel tank is fabricated in a controlled environment to AWWA standards. The coating is precisely applied and oven cured, ensuring an even, durable, and consistent coating. Erection took place in the late fall and dead of winter 2010/2011, when field welding and coating would have certainly been difficult! Color matched sealant and encapsulated head bolts complete the job and are installed quickly and easily, regardless of the weather.

Very few companies can supply the variety of tanks that CRECO can. Our "unbiased" sales approach saves money, and provides the best tank for the process.
