Creation Leverages Universal's Advantis 3 Platform for Significant throughput Gains

Creation Technologies, a Global Top-50 and North American Top-10 Electronics
Manufacturing Services (EMS) provider, has purchased Universal Instruments' Advantis
3(TM) Platform to improve productivity at their Markham Ontario, Canada Facility. The
initial machine installation has resulted in greater than 25% throughput improvements.
Advantis 3 delivers scalable performance and class-leading technology for electronics
manufacturers in cost-sensitive markets.

Creation provides high-mix, high-complexity start-to-finish manufacturing and supply chain solutions in the Industrial and Instrumentation; Medical; Communications; Computers and Multimedia; Transportation; Defense; Environment and Security industries. The company currently partners with over 170 Original Equipment Manufacturers worldwide, implementing design and new product development, full integration, product distribution, and after-market services.

Creation General Manager, Duncan Reed, noted the impact of the Advantis 3 installation at the company's Markham Ontario, Canada facility, "We immediately saw a 25% throughput
improvement when comparing Advantis 3 to our exiting equipment." Reed continued, "This
advantage was exponential when adding another production line. Add to that the ability to easily adapt to our high mix of products and Advantis 3 has greatly expanded our capabilities and the scope of our potential customers."

Advantis 3 features class-leading technologies and unmatched flexibility for the demands of cost-sensitive markets including Tier2/3 OEM and CEM, and medium-volume production."Creation stands as the perfect model to highlight the capabilities of Advantis 3," comments Debbora Ahlgren, Universal Vice President of Marketing. "We recognize that many of these manufacturers can absolutely excel with high-end technology offered at a minimal entry price point and with low overhead costs." Ahlgren adds, "This enables them to deliver high-quality, low-cost products to their customers".

Creation Technologies is also the North American representative of the ems-Alliance - a group of leading EMS providers that spans five continents and is dedicated to working together to support customers' global requirements.

The Advantis 3 portfolio includes both single- and triple-beam base models. Advantis 3 features an affordable entry price and low maintenance costs with VRM linear motor technology that provides improved accuracy, acceleration and velocity without the downtime of lead screwdriven positioning systems. Additional class-exclusive technologies such as the 30-spindle Lightning® head - the industry's fastest - and a host of easily integrated performance options provide superior investment protection for growing requirements.

Advantis 3 is the only truly modular placement platform, as vision capability can be expanded or spindles added without changing heads, for a throughput of up to 34,400 cph. A class-leading component range of 0201 passives through 150mm connectors and a large overlapping range between placement heads maximize utilization. A comprehensive suite of NPI software tools assists from new product introduction throughout production to achieve 100% first-pass yields and ensure the best possible PPM.
