New Dressta TD-40C Tier II Crawler Dozer Raises Performance, Lowers Emissions

(Buffalo Grove, IL - January 7, 2005) Dressta North America has rolled out the new TD-40C Tier II Crawler Dozer, a heavy-duty machine that builds on the legacy of the renowned TD-40C while meeting new, lower federal emissions standards.

The TD-40C Tier II features the Cummins QSK-19C Tier II engine that continues to supply 520 net horsepower, but with reduced emissions. This high-tech engine utilizes full electronic control, dual overhead camshafts, a variable output turbo system, and oil change intervals of up to 500 hours.

Keeping an engine of this size cool during continuous operation is critical. The TD-40C Tier II features a multi-unit modular cooling system with a 2-speed hydraulic fan which improves cooling efficiency while reducing sound levels. The cooling package includes engine, power train, charge air, fuel, and hydraulic system cooling.

"The new TD-40C Tier II is our most advanced crawler dozer yet," said Tom McGonigle, Director of Dressta North America. "It has been designed with specific features and accessories to deliver optimum performance for all large crawler dozer applications."

The first thing operators will notice in the TD-40C Tier II is the improved ease-of-operation. A single left hand joystick controls all machine motion functions - direction, gear ranges, and steering modes. Steering includes 2-speed geared steering, clutch/brake, and pivot modes. The new TD-40C Tier II continues to be the only dozer above 410 hp to offer the steering/power advantages of a geared steering system.

The new machine also focuses on improved operator comfort. The joystick control, easier-to-read instrumentation, and increased cab pressurization and filtration create a more comfortable operating environment. The gray hood also cuts down on glare during daytime operations.

Other upgrades have been made to improve performance and increase ease of servicing. Among these, the track gauge has been widened by over four inches to a full 98 inches for improved side slope stability and increased cooling airflow area. The blade lift cylinders have been relocated forward to give more direct blade lift force, and the cylinder crosstube has been eliminated for easier servicing. Also, all hydraulic hoses to the tilt and pitch cylinders are completely enclosed. In addition, the air conditioner condenser has been relocated to the rear of the cab roof for improved serviceability, and the lights are re-positioned for improved nighttime operation.

Blade capacities have been increased to allow the TD-40C to push larger loads. The Semi-U blade now has a capacity of 24.3 cu. yds., and the full-U blade handles 29.8 cu. yds. Both capacities are industry highs.

The increased performance capabilities of the new TD-40C Tier II Crawler Dozer will produce new levels of productivity for a wide range of applications, making it one of the most versatile dozers for the heavy-duty market.
