ADwin Introduces ARM Processor Module for PRO-II Systems

New T-12 Module Features ARM-based Technology for Real-Time Speed

CHESTERLAND OH — CAS DataLoggers in partnership with Jager-ADwin is pleased to announce the new T-12 processor module for ADwin-PRO II data acquisition and control systems. Featuring powerful ARM-based processor technology, the new ADwin CPU enables superior performance at real-time speed.

The Heart of ADwin-Pro II

The flagship ADwin Pro-CPU-T12 processor module offers high-speed real-time computing power and is largely software-compatible to previous versions. The ADwin CPU is the heart of each ADwin-Pro II system, executing the ADbasic instructions and accessing the inputs, outputs and interfaces of the other modules.

The T-12 processor module uses approved ADbasic code for Pro-II hardware. The CPU enables users to Insert C code into ADbasic so users can output it as ADwin code. This feature is useful to optimize processing and control applications.

T-12 Processor Technical data:

  • XILINX ZYNQ™ with Dual-Core ARM Cortex-A9

  • 64-Bit FPU (double-precision)

  • 1 GHz processor clock

  • 1 Gigabyte main memory for code and data

  • Trigger input

  • 2 Digital I/Os

  • 1000 MBit Ethernet interface for communication to the PC

Flexible Access:

Users can utilize USB or SATA storage device on the module. The SATA device can be integrated into the module or it can be removable. Access to the memory is provided via processor module or via NFS/ SMB/FTP from the Ethernet network. Stand-alone operation without a PC is enabled using the Bootloader.

Real-Time Performance:

ADwin Pro-II data acquisition and control systems offer users the fastest real-time computing power. These systems and modules give users communication options and datalogging with real time pre-processing of data. ADwin-Pro II modules work with various bus systems and serial interfaces including CANbus, SSI, Profibus/Fieldbus, RS-232/485, and signal conditioner modules. For example an ADwin-Pro II system can simultaneously send messages and data via RS232, communicate with devices via CAN bus, and control a test stand.

The extraordinary speed of the Pro-II system provides complex applications with a high data rate, featuring tightly-coupled analog and digital inputs along with counters which provide users’ applications with extremely low-latency operation. The ADwin-Pro II Series utilizes a modular form factor with plug-in modules to allow up to 480 analog or digital inputs in a single chassis. All the new Pro-II modules running on the Pro- II bus automatically sync, allowing fully-synchronized time measurements with multiple modules without any special software effort.

Pete Martin, Sales Manager for CAS DataLoggers comments, “ADwin takes full advantage of advances in the processor world with this new ARM-based CPU. The T-12 processor’s ARM chip allows users to run standard C code on it. This is a major benefit from the development standpoint for users working in both processing and control applications.”
