Advantech's New CompactPCI® MIC-3316 CPU Card is Designed for Applications Where Reliability is Essential
Cincinnati, Ohio (April 28, 2005) - Advantech Corporation, Industrial Automation Group is proud to release the MIC-3316, a 3U CompactPCI® card with an Ultra Low Voltage Celeron® 650 MHz CPU, up to 384MB SDRAM and industrial features for mission-critical industrial applications. Industrial features include a no-fan design, on-board 512KB battery-backup RAM, Timer IRQ, RS-485 with auto flow control, hot-swappable CompactFlash® socket and rear I/O.
The MIC-3316 has been engineered for diverse applications with several ordering options. The standard model comes with basic functions such as two RS 232/422/485 ports, two USB ports, two CompactFlash® sockets, one 10/100Mbps Ethernet port, a DVI-I connector, 2.5" hard drive bay and watchdog timer. For more demanding requirements, the MIC-3316 can be ordered with a parallel port, audio ports, an external hot-swappable CompactFlash® socket, and with both front and rear I/O configuration. There is also support for CPUs ranging from ULV Celeron® 400 to ULV Pentium® III 933 MHz by request.
The MIC-3316 also features special functions like a Timer IRQ and battery-backup RAM. Timer IRQ is used to define intervals for interrupts directly by user programs, helping the MIC-3316 provide higher precision in timing control. On-board 512KB battery backup RAM allows developers to read and write important I/O data in RAM, so machine operation status can be maintained and recovered through power failure or other error conditions. With the rear I/O option, the MIC-3316 provides two RS-232/422/485 ports, a USB port, an Ethernet port, a VGA port and Keyboard/Mouse port. The MIC-3316's front panel RS-485 ports support auto-flow control function used to simplify serial communications.
