Xycom Automation Announces new XVME-661 Low Power Single-slot VMEbus Processor



Saline, MI - November 18, 2002 - Xycom Automation, Inc., a subsidiary of Pro-face America, Inc. and a market leader in Industrial VMEbus products, is pleased to announce the addition of a 6U single-slot, Intel® Pentium® III 700 MHz Based Low Power Processor Module to the VMEbus product offering.

The XVME-661 is a high performance, low power, versatile CPU board with a variety of extra features, which makes it an excellent choice for many applications within the telecommunications, defense, industrial, medical and aerospace market sectors. Special design specifications provide electrical isolation and noise immunity on Ethernet ports, COM1, and PMC site.

The XVME-661, a PC compatible board, offers additional features including EIDE, dual 10/100 Base-T Ethernet using RJ45 connectors, high resolution graphics including support for flat panel displays, up to 256 Mbytes of lower cost SDRAM and full IDE support for Type I/II CompactFlash(TM). On board, configurable, fast hardware byte-swapping is also supported. In addition, the board offers PC-compatible features such as keyboard, mouse, two RS232 serial interfaces, one USB interface, floppy disk interface and printer port. These features can be further extended by the use of the on board PMC expansion site, and two additional PMC modules can be added using the optional XVME-976/203 PMC carrier board which connects directly to the XVME-661. Additional expansion for PC-104, PCI, and ISA is available through the use of other XVME-976 carrier boards. Hard drive, CD, and floppy drive capabilities can be added using XVME-977 and XVME-979 single-slot modules.

To ensure ease of integration of the XVME-661 into your VME system, Xycom offers Software Board Support Packages for popular operating systems like Windows® XP, Windows® 2000, Windows NT®, Windows NT® Embedded, Windows® 3.X, QNX® and MS-DOS®.
