Appleton Expansion Couplings Now Provide Up to 8 Inches of Movement in Long Conduit Runs

SKOKIE, IL, September 25, 2002 -- Electrical contractors faced with the challenge of connecting long runs of rigid metal conduit will appreciate the Appleton XJ Expansion Coupling.

Appleton XJ Expansion Couplings provide for up to 8 inches in movement between sections of conduit at their connection point, an advantage that makes for a stronger, safer, more flexible link. The couplings are effective in connecting conduit sections that run between divisions of buildings sectioned by structural expansion joints, or conduit running in buildings of great length, such as a warehouse or factory. The couplings have the equivalent of weather-tight joints for use with heavywall conduit, as well as a metallic packing ring to assure continuous metal-to-metal continuity.

Appleton XJ Expansion Couplings are UL Listed for indoor applications without bonding jumpers, and for outdoor installations when used along with bonding jumpers. The couplings are exceptionally rugged, featuring malleable iron end-fittings and a hardened steel body. The movable end cap nuts make for easy, hassle-free installation. Copper bonding jumpers are also available to provide additional effective metallic bond to each conduit run.

The 4-inch movement couplings are offered in 1/2-inch to 5-inch trade sizes. The 8-inch movement version is available in trade sizes of 1/2-inch to 6-inches.
