Coupling suits wash-down and clean-room applications.

Press Release Summary:

Series FK flexible miniature coupling measures 5.5 x 9 mm and incorporates flexible beam-cut polyamide element clamped to shafting with stainless steel hubs and set screws. Low lateral spring stiffness maintains backlash-free characteristics at torsional stiffness of 23 Ncm/rad. Hub design provides clearance for shaft burrs created by 2 mm set screws. Nominal torque capacity is 1.4 oz-in. and peak torque capacity is 2.8 oz-in.

Micro Coupling Preserves Tiny Bearings

The MICROFLEX is a new flexible miniature coupling that is only 5.5mm in diameter by 9mm in length. The coupling is composed of a flexible beam-cut polyamide element clamped to shafting with stainless steel hubs and set screws. Suitable for wash down and clean room environments, the series FK is ideal for micro-pumps and micro-motors used in medical and biotech applications. Standard designs are balanced for up to 10,000 RPM. Low lateral spring stiffness allows the coupling to absorb restoring forces on shaft bearings in slight misalignment, while maintaining its backlash free characteristics at a torsional stiffness of 23 Ncm/rad. The hub design allows for easy installation and removal by providing clearance for any shaft burrs created by the 2mm set screws.

The series FK has a nominal torque capacity of 1.4 oz/in and a peak torque capacity of 2.8 oz/in. Standard bore diameter is 1.5mm, though this dimension is flexible.
