Corrosion-Resistant Tension Brakes suit offshore deck environments.

Press Release Summary:

Able to withstand sea spray and direct seawater splash prevalent in marine deck areas, AquaMaKKs LI-SSI Series provides accurate torque control for constant tensioning in heavy-duty, continuous slip tension applications. Each low inertia, air-cooled, spring-set, air tube release, high-torque brake utilizes basic brake housing but has special alloy stainless steel torque (center) plates and friction material. Standards sizes are 19, 25, and 36 in.

AquaMaKKs LI-SSB Tension Brakes Optimized for Highly Corrosive Offshore Deck Environments

Wichita Clutch, Wichita Falls, TX, has recently added the LI-SSI Series to its AquaMaKKs family of clutches and brakes. The LI-SSI has been specially modified to withstand sea spray and direct seawater splash prevalent in marine deck areas.

AquaMaKKs LI-SSB brakes provide accurate torque control for constant tensioning in heavy-duty continuous slip tension applications.

LI-SSB models utilize the basic AquaMaKKs brake housing but have special alloy stainless steel torque (center) plates installed instead of water jackets. An engineered friction material was specially designed to run against the stainless steel torque plate. Units also feature three-part epoxy marine grade paint and stainless steel hardware for added corrosion protection.

LI-SSB low inertia, air-cooled, spring-set air tube release high torque brakes are available in the 19, 25, and 36 inch AquaMaKks sizes. Units can be easily converted into water-cooled brakes by simply removing the drive and torque plates and installing patented composite water jackets with their matching drive plates and friction material.

With fewer parts for simple installation and maintenance, and a shim design that makes it easy to maintain and adjust for wear, AquaMaKKs is a perfect solution for field retrofits, rebuilds or new OEM applications. Adjustment for wear is easily accomplished by removing shims without any unit disassembly.
