Corning Cable Systems Improves Performance of its Preterminated LANscape® Solutions Plug & Play(TM) Systems

SEPTEMBER 6, 2007

Standard Plug & Play System attenuation performance improved to 0.75 dB

HICKORY, N.C. Corning Cable Systems LLC, part of Corning Incorporated's (NYSE:GLW) Telecommunications segment, announces a reduction in the attenuation of its standard LANscape® Solutions Plug & Play(TM) System components. The company's standard Plug & Play System modules and harnesses now feature a loss of 0.75 dB, providing the best standard insertion loss in the industry and allowing customers to better meet the strict budgets demanded by today's systems.

Corning Cable Systems Plug & Play Systems are preterminated optical fiber cabling systems that dramatically streamline the process of deploying an optical network infrastructure in the premises environment, particularly in data center applications. The 0.75 dB standard insertion loss applies to Corning Cable Systems Plug & Play Universal and Classic System CCH and HDH Modules, Harnesses and Integrated Trunk Modules with LC and SC Connectors.

In addition to the standard Plug & Play System product offering, Corning Cable Systems will continue to offer its low-loss Plug & Play System. The low-loss system, consisting of modules, trunks and extender trunks, harnesses and jumpers, features MTP® to LC Connector and MTP to SC Connector modules and harnesses with a maximum loss of 0.5 dB. The total link-loss for the complete module-trunk-module Plug & Play System is 1.0 dB, making it ideal for customers working in 10 Gig environments.

The Plug & Play Universal System eliminates fiber polarity as a factor in system design, redesign or installation through its value-added wiring solution. Because of its innovative design, the Universal System has no special polarity components, avoiding the polarity problems caused by incorrect placement of modules and jumpers.
