Cornell and Cookson Introduce Unique High-Speed, High-Cycle Rolling Grille Design Proven to Perform for 300,000 Cycles

Grille Design Combines High-Performance Benefits with Maintenance-Free Security

Mountain Top, PA  – The Cookson Company, Inc. and Cornell Iron Works, Inc., both brands of CIW Enterprises, Inc., have introduced a coiling grille that travels three times faster than traditional coiling grilles and provides operational efficiency for over 300,000 cycles. Cornell's Extreme® 324 High-Performance Grille and Cookson's Cycle-Master® 324 High-Performance Grille provide building owners with a fast and virtually maintenance-free solution for critical, high-traffic openings.

"This high-performance grille was designed for applications such as parking garages, government and law enforcement buildings and other areas with high traffic flow, where downtime is just not an option," states Siva Davuluri, commercial segment director. "It provides the security customers need in high risk areas, while also allowing visibility and ventilation into the building."

In addition to speed and security, the 324 High-Performance Grille has been engineered to require minimal maintenance. The design features the following:

• Springless shaft (no springs to replace)

• Anti-wear and low friction UHMW guides

• Aluminum tube spacers and heavy-duty aluminum links, tested for high-cycle usage

• A variable frequency drive with a soft start/soft stop feature, which greatly reduces wear and

stress on the gear box and operator

The 324 grille is the only high-performance grille to meet the Underwriter Laboratories 325-2010 entrapment protection requirements. Additionally, the design includes a patent-pending inertia brake, preventing curtain free fall. The grill is backed by an industry-leading 5-year, 1 million cycle warranty on the operator and control panel. Mechanical and electrical components are warranted for 2 years.

The 324 programmable logic control box works with mechanisms such as floor loops, card and RFID readers, motion detectors and other modern control technology, seamlessly integrating with existing buildings without additional costs.

The grille is available in either a straight or a brick pattern design, for openings up to 26 feet wide. Finishes are standard mill, clear anodized, medium bronze anodized, dark bronze anodized and black duranodic.
