Coriolis Mass Flowmeter is constructed of Tantalum alloy.

Press Release Summary:

Able to measure aggressive and corrosive fluids, Tantalum OPTIMASS 7300 has straight-tube design resistant to blocking and fouling. Its Tantalum wetted-flange material construction is comprised of Tantalum Ta10W alloy (10% Tungsten and 90% Tantalum). Adaptive Sensor Technology (AST) is included for intelligent self-tuning, independent of external forces and fluid density. Product delivers accurate metering, for range of flow rates, in 7 full-bore tube diameters from ¼-3 in.

KROHNE Enhances Broadest Single-Straight Tube Coriolis Mass Flowmeter Product Range with Tantalum Sensor

Unique Tantalum Design Provides Superior Performance in Highly Corrosive Applications and Eliminates Installation Requirements

KROHNE, Inc., a global technology leader in the development, manufacture and distribution of accurate, reliable and cost effective measuring instruments for the process industries, introduces a new Tantalum version of its OPTIMASS 7300 straight tube Coriolis mass flowmeter. The first single straight tube meter available with Tantalum wetted-flange material construction, is well-suited for the chemical industry and measures highly aggressive or corrosive fluids, featuring a no-hassle installation and superior performance in density and mass flow.

Tantalum is generally considered impervious to most fluids, making it ideal for the straight tube OPTIMASS 7300. Previously only available on more expensive dual bent tube sensor designs, the Tantalum OPTIMASS 7300's design makes it both an affordable and ideal solution for the safe and reliable measurement of fluids that require glass lined piping or glass lined process vessels. Tantalum has similar chemical resistance as glass, and is typically used with chemicals such as Hydrochloric, Sulphuric, Nitric, and Phosphoric acids, or Bromine and Chlorine.

The Tantalum used by KROHNE is an alloy called Tantalum Ta10W, which is comprised of 10 percent Tungsten and 90 percent Tantalum. Tungsten provides the additional tensile strength required to handle the stresses associated with straight tube technology, making the alloy a perfect fit for the OPTIMASS 7300.

The corrosion-resistant Tantalum OPTIMASS 7300 is the first of its kind to contain Tantalum wetted-flange construction, allowing it to withstand the harshest conditions, and with the new design, only the measuring tube and the raises face of the process flange need to be made from Tantalum. The single straight-tube design is resistant to blocking or fouling, allowing the meter to handle high viscosity fluids with ease, as well as maintaining a high level of accuracy, even in the presence of entrained air.

Featuring KROHNE's patented Adaptive Sensor Technology (AST), the OPTIMASS 7300 intelligently "tunes" itself, independent of external forces and fluid density, to produce an inherently balanced meter in the most demanding processes. It delivers accurate metering for a wide range of flow rates, in seven different full-bore tube diameters (1/4", 3/8", 1/2", 1", 1 ½", 2" and 3").
