Emerson Dramatically Improves Micro Motion® F-Series Coriolis Meters with More Compact and Drainable Design

Boulder, Colorado. -- (September 15, 2003) Significantly improving mid-tier Coriolis flowmeters, Emerson Process Management has announced dramatic enhancements to its Micro Motion® F-Series product line. The new and improved Micro Motion F-Series flowmeter maintains its superior measurement accuracy of flow and density, within a form-factor that's more compact and drainable than before. With these improvements extending Micro Motion F-Series meters to an even broader range of applications, Emerson's PlantWeb® digital plant architecture can expand its impact on manufacturing efficiency.

The improved Micro Motion F-Series meters will see substantial demand in food and beverage applications where 3-A authorization (available through other Micro Motion meters) is not required, but precise flow and density measurement is needed. The chemical industry will also find Micro Motion F-Series meters valuable for measuring hazardous materials because the Micro Motion F-Series meters will be available with optional secondary containment. This secondary containment is verified in the same fashion as the secondary containment found on Micro Motion ELITE flowmeters by a pneumatic pressure test of the sensor housing that confirms the rating according to ASME B31.3 standards.

Micro Motion F-Series flowmeters are a cost-effective alternative for applications requiring precision and accuracy. Compared to traditional volumetric and other Coriolis meters, Micro Motion F-Series meters are accurate and reliable over wide flow ranges and under varying fluid conditions at a lower price. The Micro Motion F-Series meters are available in ¼-inch to 2-inch sizes to accommodate a spectrum of countless applications. Benefits include:
· A variety of process connection options to fit virtually any application
· Integral or remote transmitter mounting with local display
· Available with milliamp and frequency/pulse outputs, plus HART®, FOUNDATION(TM) fieldbus and Profibus® communications protocols

The broader application range of the improved Micro Motion F-series Coriolis flowmeters expands the use of their accuracy and precision to power Emerson's PlantWeb digital plant architecture to improve manufacturing quality. Additionally, the online monitoring and diagnostics of the Micro Motion F-Series meters provide predictive process and flowmeter health information that PlantWeb delivers to those running the plant, enabling more efficient scheduled and proactive maintenance.
