The World's Jig Saw Inventor, Bosch, Begins New Cordles Era

CHICAGO - September 2002 - Harnessing the same advanced technology which has made Bosch jig saws number one in the industry for more than 50 years, Bosch now adds a 24-, 18- and 14.4-volt jig saw to its broad cordless power tool offering. These new jig saws feature smooth operation, the simplest and fastest tool-free blade change system, the largest cutting capacities for any cordless jig saw on the market, a large die-cast aluminum foot, and superior comfort and handling.

Available in three voltages, the new jig saws make an attractive and useful addition to any professional's cordless power tool collection. Each unit's durable Bosch-built motor provides 2,000 strokes per minute for fast cutting while the lightweight magnesium gear housing adds extra durability to make the tool last. Combined with the correct blade, these new saws handle cuts up to 2-3/4-inches in wood or 5/16-inch in steel, the highest capacities of all the cordless jig saws on the market. And because Bosch engineers its tools to last, an external fan cools the motor, extending the life of the tool.

The power, accuracy, and convenience of these new saws make it easy to cut curves and irregular openings for sinks, pipes, or vents, or simpler applications such as trimming wood, light metals or composites. But most importantly, professionals like remodelers, installers, HVAC contractors, trim and finish carpenters, maintenance personnel and woodworkers always know they can go from room to room, work in tight spaces, on high ladders or construction sites with limited AC power, and never require extension cords or external power sources.

Each unit also includes the revolutionary new Bosch One-touch(TM) blade change system - the simplest and fastest tool-free blade change on any professional corded or cordless jig saw. Accepting Bosch T-Shank blades, the exclusive three-way grip eliminates blade slippage or pullout and helps prevent breakage. Blade insertion simply involves pushing the it in with one hand until clicked into place, and release requires one finger to effortlessly move a small lever, which ejects the blade from the holder - eliminating the need to handle hot or broken blades.

As the world leader in the production of jig saw and other linear edge blades, Bosch offers a complete line of wood, metal and all-purpose blades. In particular, industry professionals recognize the Bosch Progressor® blades as the industry standard. A full list of blades offered can be found online, in the Bosch catalog or at a local Bosch distributor.

Additionally, users will notice superior handling and performance. Features such as the die-cast aluminum foot that bevels to 45 degrees on both sides is compatible with an optional circular and parallel guide (JA1003) providing stability and control throughout cuts. A smooth removable plastic cover, standard with each saw, protects the workpiece from unwanted marks or scratches, while a dust blower keeps the work area clear of debris. A soft-grip handle allows multiple grip positions, and a convenient trigger with electric brake and ambidextrous lock-off button provide users with extra comfort and control. And an easily accessible four-position orbital selector controls cutting speed and finish.
