New Makita MXT(TM) Cordless Drill Series For Maximum Performance And Versatility
May 1, 2005 - LA MIRADA, CALIF. - Makita USA, Inc., manufacturer of professional quality power tools and accessories, launched the MXT(TM) Cordless Drill Series featuring extreme power, durability and performance. The 3-speed all-metal gear transmission delivers more torque and increases efficiency for a choice of light, heavy-duty and extreme applications. Makita's exclusive Shift-Lock(TM) drive system locks out the clutch with one touch and quickly shifts from 'drill' to 'driver' mode for superior power and operator efficiency. 3-speed, variable speed and reversible gearing options are also available in the MXT Series and includes a 14.4V and 18V ½" driver-drill kit, 18V ½" hammer driver-drill kit and four 18V combo kits.
Designed for professional results, Makita engineers developed the MXT Series with a high-power two-piece D-31 motor which uses a rare earth magnet for maximum power, efficiency, and serviceability. The armature is supported with dual-sealed ball bearings, a large cooling fan and is precisely balanced for reduced friction, reduced temperature and increased tool life.

Transferring power from the motor to the bit is a new all-metal gear transmission protected in a dust-proof housing. The rugged 3-stage, 13-planetary gear system provides smooth, efficient power for the most demanding applications. The speed selector switch utilizes a fully engaged gear for positive transfer from low to high speed for increased durability.
Two high capacity 2.6Ah Nickel-Metal Hydride (Ni-MH) batteries deliver greater capacity and longer run-time available than in any Ni-Cd battery. With more time in the tool and less time spent in the charger, Ni-MH batteries provide more work with less downtime. Combined with no memory effect and being environmentally friendly, these batteries provide unmatched performance.
The MXT(TM) Cordless Drill Series have many additional features such as a new locking-ratcheting, keyless chuck for secure tightening of bolts and unmatched grip strength. Externally accessible brushes extend motor life five-times longer by increasing serviceability. Operator comfort is maximized with less weight, an ergonomically designed housing and a heavy-duty rubberized grip.
