Mitutoyo's Strato CMM Uses CNC Touch Probing Plus Vision

(Aurora, IL) Mitutoyo America Corporation presents a new level of versatility in coordinate measuring for shops with a great diversity of applications. Their CNC Strato CMM is being displayed with available probing options including touch probe, vision probe, indexing head and probe auto-changer. Essentially, this is a vision machine and full-function CMM rolled into one.

Strato CMMs are high speed, high accuracy measuring systems built to be run on the plant floor. They feature real-time temperature compensation of both CMM and work piece. Digital servo technology delivers 16.93"/sec. traverse speed and 0.17G
acceleration for quick measuring cycles. There are four models in the Strato family with measuring ranges from 28" x 28" x 24" up to 36" x 64" x 24".

Mitutoyo's Quick Vision Probe (QVP) is designed as an accessory for new manual and CNC measuring machines, offering full-featured, non-contact measurement with little added cost. Now the CMM can measure features like small holes, soft rubber or plastic parts and even lines on flat surfaces that touch probes cannot. The QVP can also be retrofit to existing CMMs.

The QVP's lightweight, compact size and integrated white LED illumination system make it feasible for use with auto-joint automatic probe changers. And, VisionPak measurement is an extension of Mitutoyo's GeoMeasure 6000 CMM software, meaning that both touch and vision modes may be integrated into a single CNC program, or used separately.

The vision probe offers magnifications of lX, 3X, 5X and l0X and sub-second image processing speed. Repeatability of measurement is ± .00004" (± 1um).
