FARO Ships New Titanium FaroArm Series

Lake Mary, Fla. - October 29, 2002 -- FARO Technologies, Inc. announced the release of its Titanium FaroArm® - the latest addition to the Company's new generation of portable coordinate measurement machines (CMMs) pioneered by the Platinum FaroArm® introduced in September. The Titanium offers all of the new ergonomic advantages of the Platinum Series, but with the price and accuracy of the Company's former Gold FaroArm Series.

"It was designed for manufacturers who want portable measurement, reverse-engineering capabilities and the ergonomics of the flagship Platinum FaroArm, but with intermediate accuracy at an entry-level price," said Simon Raab, President & CEO of FARO.

The Titanium FaroArm's precision and lightweight construction mean that shop floor personnel now have an affordable, portable, solution for the majority of their measurement needs. The Titanium enables anyone, anywhere to inspect, reverse engineer or perform CAD-to-Part-analysis on parts, fixtures and assemblies with remarkable accuracy.

The Titanium series interfaces with all FARO CAM2® software for applications in metal forming, molding, fabricating, casting and assembly. And with the Arm's universal 3.5" mounting ring with an available magnetic mount, quality control personnel can attach the Titanium directly on the machinery that manufactures the part.

Users will also appreciate that the Titanium FaroArm offers fatigue-free usage. FARO engineered the Arm to be much lighter than a standard portable CMM, and "neutrally buoyant" by including internal counter-balancing. To help ensure the most accurate and consistent measurements possible, the Titanium series is equipped with overload sensors that sound an alert when users stress one of the six axis.
