Cooling Modules come in ceiling and rack mount models.

Press Release Summary:

Available in nominal 20 kW rating, Liebert XDO overhead, ceiling-mounted fan coil draws hot air from hot aisle and exhausts cool air vertically down into cold aisle. Mounted on top of rack or suspended from ceiling, Liebert XVD vertical fan coil offers nominal 10 kW rating. It draws hot air from hot aisle or rack and exhausts cold air into cold aisle where equipment air intakes are located. Both use waterless pumped refrigerant technology, eliminating potential for water damage.

Emerson Network Power Expands Line of High-Density Cooling Solutions with Capacity Enhancements to Liebert XDO and XDV Systems

with Capacity Enhancements to Liebert XDO and XDV Systems

Columbus, Ohio [October 11, 2006] - Emerson Network Power, a business of Emerson (NYSE: EMR) and the global leader in enabling Business-Critical Continuity(TM), today expanded its Liebert XD family of high-density cooling solutions with higher capacity ceiling and rack-mount cooling modules. The Liebert XDO is now available in a nominal 20 kW rating, while the Liebert XDV is now available in a nominal 10 kW rating.

The Liebert XDO is an overhead, ceiling-mounted fan coil that delivers efficient cooling by drawing hot air from the hot aisle and exhausting the cool air vertically down into the cold aisle. The Liebert XDO is the same dimension as the previous 16 kW model but offers 25 percent higher cooling capacity.

The Liebert XDV, a vertical fan coil that can be mounted to the top of the rack or suspended from the ceiling, draws hot air directly from the hot isle, or from the rack, and exhausts cold air into the cold aisle where equipment air intakes are located. The Liebert XDV is the same dimension as the previous 8 kW model but can cool 10 kW per rack.

Both the Liebert XDV and XDO use the same pumped refrigerant technology and piping infrastructure with quick connect couplings and can be used in tandem with other Liebert XD cooling modules to provide focused, high-efficiency cooling for racks up to 30 kW.

"With the enhancement of the Liebert XDO and XDV, we are continuing to increase the flexibility and scalability of the industry's most widely adopted high-density cooling solution," said Lennart Stahl, Liebert XD senior product manager at Emerson Network Power. "This allows data center managers to continue to efficiently accommodate various equipment layouts, support loads that are consistently rising and introduce increased diversity into the data center environment while retaining their base infrastructure for the lowest total cost architecture."

Emerson's Liebert XD line of proven high heat-density cooling solutions improves business continuity by supplementing traditional cooling and targeting high-density areas. It utilizes a waterless pumped refrigerant technology that provides superior cooling capacity and scalability over other chilled water-based designs of the same size, while eliminating the potential for water damage to electronic equipment from leaks. Because the Liebert XD system provides 100 percent sensible capacity and removes no moisture from the air, the need for humidification is significantly reduced, further decreasing energy usage and maintenance.

Emerson Network Power pioneered the open approach to high-density cooling with the development of the Liebert XD system in 2002. This unique cooling, pumping and piping system delivers high-efficiency cooling by allowing the cooling components, Liebert XDV, XDO and the recently introduced Liebert XDH, to be placed close to the source of heat.
